Last look at Snow

This might be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping this was the last snow of the season. We're ready to play!

2 year check up

I've pretty much given up baby books. I've found the blog to be a great way to keep track of what these kids are doing and how they're growing. I've also found that if I don't write it down, I won't remember. So, here are the stats, for my records:

Wt. 31 lbs (70%)
HT: 37 inches (98%)

Not much more to report. The doc did say he should know some more words- but not to be too concerned yet, only if he hasn't really caught on in the next 6 months or so. I've been trying to be more proactive about teaching him too and making him say the things he wants, rather than talking for him or letting Lucy talk for him. He's actually shown some improvement just in the last week or so.

Haircuts

So I figured I could live vicariously through my children and cut their hair. I have to say, it's been quite some time. At our last doctors appointment the doctor said to Will, "nice hat hair", however, he hadn't been wearing a hat- I knew it was time. I've been dreading his first hair cut as I love his curls and am nervous they won't come back. I pulled through and did it and he looks so much older. I'm semi pleased with his cut, but really like Lucy's. Now it's my turn!

Whatcha think?

I'm always quite embarrassed to go to get my haircut because my hairdresser knows how long it's been since I had a trim. My last haircut was in August- yikes! I've made my mind up that one way or another I will get a cut soon. Whatcha think- this is the cut I'm thinking of getting?

My dad has a extensive collection of beer mugs. I begged him for these and he gave in. Rumor has it, the bottom is glass so that way back when the cowboy (or whoever would have it), could always keep an eye on who was coming in and out with their guns ready. Now, I use them to keep an eye on the kids while sipping my beer.

Bad Hair Day

Actually, just the result of building a fort with a fleece blanket as the roof.

Alright, so this was a premature Valentines celebration, but our plans tonight are similar. I also might add that I whooped Nate in Scrabble- I'm sure he's planning revenge. I love you babe, and thanks for being my "V" (Valentine that is).

The Park

As anticipated it is currently 50 degrees. To take advantage of this warm weather we went to the park (funny how our standards change of "warm"). It was a bit chilly but so good to get the kids out and running around. Currently both kids are sleeping (a huge success story for Lucy- as she has only napped twice in the last 4 months) and I'm relaxing!

Will watching Lucy come down the big slide that he did not want to go down, but was thrilled to watch Lucy do it over and over again.

Yes, current temperature 55 degrees, our thermostat does not lie, at least not on one front. That arrow, for example, I look at it mocking me. It's says, "push me and I'll make it warmer"- LIAR! I keep trying though- it's not working. I've begun to doubt all arrows. Just today I was about to go up the elevator, Will went to push the up arrow and I thought- it's not going to work! Or, the TV, I push the arrow up doubting that it will actually go. The Elevator and TV did not fail me, however, the thermostat does. 64, another lie. Why does it even ask what temperature I want it to be? The 64 just reminds me that it is not 64 degrees in our house. We've tried every trick, putting it up to 90 degrees, turning it off on on 3 times and resetting it, pressing the red arrow 5 times, the blue arrow once, holding them both down, closing our eyes while jumping up and down on our right foot- then left foot, then turning it on, nothing's working! The face below explains my feelings regarding this issue.
Some of you might be saying, "Get it fixed!" That sounds like a nice easy solution, and yes, I have thought of it many times, however, I keep telling myself, "spring is around the corner, I can do it". Truth be told it's actually our landlord's responsibility, and he would be more than willing I'm sure, however sense we have been here things keep breaking, and I don't want him to have to fix one more thing. The good news, tomorrow it's supposed to be 52! Our thermostat is fine when it's above 40, but with this frigid weather it just can't keep up. So, as for now, we're bundling, taking baths, drinking tea, using lots of blankets, and giving lots of pep talks. So, if any of you come over, be prepared with slippers and mittens! However, I have an inkling that this post might keep most away....

We could have never painted this guy before he came. He is so tender, kind, and sweet. Often he does the unexpected and is turning out to be quite quirky. We always just say how nice he is. Yes, he has an opinion (strong at times), but we love that too and know the Lord will use it for his glory. He is a man of few words... we like to say he's exercising the wisdom from Proverbs, but also know that Lucy does much of his talking for him. He is my little man and I love him dearly. I cannot wait to see how the Lord continues to form him and feel blessed beyond all words to have him as my son.

Will's Golden

Yes, it was Will's golden birthday yesterday. We had a little party. Will had a couple friends his age come and Lucy got to invite a couple as well. Nothing big, but big enough to feel like Will could have a celebration. He had a great time, though he refused to play pin the tail on the donkey. Being that it was Groundhog Day someone suggested next year we play pin the shadow on the groundhog- I'll tuck that one away. He blew out both his candles and was so proud- I was proud too. He's a good good guy!
