A step back

When I take pictures at the gardens I often get close ups. When we leave, I want to be able to look back and remember the landscape. So, here are at least a few that look at the gardens from a distance. Now, this concludes my posts from the gardens. I don't think I've quite done it justice, it's beautiful and no picture can capture the peace you feel there. This will be missed.

I was not the only one with the idea to go to the gardens on this sunny beautiful days. One nice thing about the gardens is that even when a lot of people are there it doesn't feel that crowded. It is just so huge!

The Gardens

The gardens have a dear place in my heart. It is definitely one of my favorite places here- it is so peaceful. I also love taking the kids there because they can just wander and be surrounded by beauty. They love it too. I usually bring my camera when I go, but wanted to really document the gardens so I won't forget them down the road. So, I'll have a few posts dedicated to the gardens coming up, but for now, I'll just post one. This was my favorite tree I saw yesterday, the Japanese flowering crabapple- just amazing!

Afternoon Drive

Yesterday was one of those days that I was not inspired.  I just wanted to sit around and, well, sit around some more.  The morning was pretty lazy, then I took Lucy to preschool and in avoidance of being totally lazy (but still being kind of lazy at the same time), I buckled the kids down and went for a nice drive and took pictures.  This might have been a little dangerous as I didn't even get out of the car (pwd, photography while driving).  My goal was to find color and I found some, here's a few.

These don't smell so good

IMG_1361

I'm definitely welcoming spring and the blooming that is happening. However, I'm not so much into welcoming allergies and the smell of these flowers (what are they called?), that are everywhere. I've been wanting to bring color and flowers in, so I went and cut a few to put in a vase. I LOVED how they looked, but just couldn't bear the smell. So, I'll just enjoy them from a distance I guess.

Aperture

Before:

After:
So, I've downloaded Aperture editing program and I love it. It has some features that I've really wanted in an editing program and it's really user friendly. I also got a Apple computer and it's totally compatible with iphoto (a bonus). Anyway, above is a pic that shows the before and after of a Lucy pic.

City shots

I thought this picture was appropriate with the arch in the background and the Washington sign.

Nate's on break so we decided to head into the city to go to the arch and to get some pictures of downtown. It was actually a pretty grey (and cold) day. Anyways, I didn't get too many great ones of the city, but got some fun ones nonetheless.

The Gardens

I took the kids to the gardens this morning and it was beautiful, I mean, what a day! This is one of those places I will really miss when we leave.
