So, I found this website "I heart faces". They have photography tips, editing ideas and weekly photo contests. It's a really fun website to look around. Anyways, I decided to submit a pic this week. The category was "reflection". There are some really great submissions so I don't expect to win, but it's just kind of fun to be part of something. Check out the link below to see some of the other pictures entered.

If Ada's ever grumpy, the sure fix is daddy playing- she loves it! When he stops playing between songs, she starts crying. Daddy's #1 fan.

Today has been one of those days. Crazy. Tiring. Ready to go to sleep. I'll post a few reminders that it's not always this crazy.

Easter Nests

IMG_1786

I was going to wait to post more Easter pics until Easter, but these just turned out so cute and they actually don't taste that bad either. I thought I'd put the recipe up in case anyone wanted a last minute project. It was super easy and great to do with kids. I think I'll put one in front of each person's place at the table.

4 Large Shredded Wheat Biscuits
1/2 Cup Coconut
2 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
1/2 Cup margarine or butter, melted
Egg candy (I am a strong advocate for dark chocolate cadbury mini-eggs)

Crumble the shredded wheat in a large bowl. Add the coconut, sugar and melted butter and mix well. Press the shredded wheat mixture into muffin tin cups lined with foil and form into a nest shape. Bake the nests at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
When the nests have cooled, remove them from the muffin cups. Fill with eggs. If you like Peeps you could also add those to some

Ada's Getting Ready Too!

Hosanna!

IMG_1737

"Hosanna, praise be to the Lord!" Lucy came home with these palms from school. The kids were shouting, "Hosanna, praise be to the Lord!" It was so loud, so I was about to give the automatic mom response- "too loud". And then, I started thinking. Listen to the words. Look at their enthusiasm and dancing. What does the Bible say?... "Shout to the Lord!" God is so pleased with the praise of little ones, I decided not to stop them but let them go for it with all their might. So, the kids shouted for a good ten minutes- it was sweet.

A step back

When I take pictures at the gardens I often get close ups. When we leave, I want to be able to look back and remember the landscape. So, here are at least a few that look at the gardens from a distance. Now, this concludes my posts from the gardens. I don't think I've quite done it justice, it's beautiful and no picture can capture the peace you feel there. This will be missed.

I was not the only one with the idea to go to the gardens on this sunny beautiful days. One nice thing about the gardens is that even when a lot of people are there it doesn't feel that crowded. It is just so huge!

When we were arrived I was shocked by color. I forgot things were blooming. It was so great to walk into the entrance and see the beautiful tulips and colors all around.

The Gardens

The gardens have a dear place in my heart. It is definitely one of my favorite places here- it is so peaceful. I also love taking the kids there because they can just wander and be surrounded by beauty. They love it too. I usually bring my camera when I go, but wanted to really document the gardens so I won't forget them down the road. So, I'll have a few posts dedicated to the gardens coming up, but for now, I'll just post one. This was my favorite tree I saw yesterday, the Japanese flowering crabapple- just amazing!

Sign of the Season

IMG_1632

The kids were thrilled when they went to go drink some water from the drinking fountain and water actually came out. There were many a disappointing days in late winter when they would go to get a drink at the park and none would come. A sign of the season- they're on!
