Just a Taste

I can't wait any longer. I've tried and tried, but I just can't. I keep telling myself, just wait until Thanksgiving is over. The urge continues. I look around at the stores and say, oh maybe I'll just buy one thing. I don't, but the urge continues. My hand reaches to put Handel's Messiah on, I pull back and insert The Indigo Girls instead. You see, Nate and I have decided that it is not until after Thanksgiving that we get our tree, start listening to the Messiah and decorate for Christmas. It's so hard though, I remember the first store I walked into with Christmas decorations out. Part of me thought, "isn't it too early for this?", but most of me was so giddy and began longing for Christmas to come. I have a confession though, I did cave in. I was at Micheals and saw some great sales. Sale + Christmas = weakness. Last year I missed my annual clearance shopping after Christmas to add to my decorations, so I figured I would just get them now. Really, it wasn't much, but it gave me a fun project and gave me a taste of post-turkey day. I got some strands of beads and a wreath to make a wreath for our front door. I also got 2 cinnamon candles (a necessity for the season), and some cinnamon pine cones with balls of gold glitter (total of 9 dollars spent, not bad). Enough to pacify me for now (kind of), but anxiously awaiting cutting down our tree and bringing the decoration boxes up from the basement. Don't worry, I hid the wreath, it's not on the front door anymore. As for now I am spending the day humming the tune of the wonderful hymn, "Come Thou Long Expected Jesus"....

Just playin around

I took some pictures of trees at sunset and added a little zing for fun. I like how they turned out, though the colors looked better together when they weren't slapped on that bright apple green background. Nonetheless, I'm pleased.

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday David and Surprise! Unfortunately I missed the "surprise" that David loved (catch the sarcasm), but I did get to enjoy the wonderful food, wine, champagne, and friends. A fun night out without the wee ones.

Dress up suitcase

I was inspired by a blog to put together a dress up suitcase for the kids. It occurred to me that I had no dress up clothes for Lucy and Will. After naps yesterday we went to our local goodwill and got the bare necessities to get the collection going. There are no pictures of Will because he's not so into dressing up yet. Maybe if I get some cowboy, policeman and superhero things he might show more interest. I was pleased with our purchases but am keeping my eye out for more. The collection has started with a dress, some jewelry, scarves, a couple hats, a wand, purses, wings, some shoes and the suitcase to keep it all in (I was so excited to find that suitcase- it's just what I had pictured). So friends out there, keep your eye out and if you see any clearance Halloween gear pick it up!
