update

I haven't blogged for a while- if you know anything about our phase of life right now you might understand why.  I have been packing this morning (8 days til we leave), and my body is telling me to take a break, so I thought I'd post a little something.  

Like I said, 8 days 'til departure- pretty wild.  Our weeks have been pretty filled with fundraising, packing, projects, friends, and St. Louis sites.  I've been a little project obsessed lately and will post some before and afters (oh, I love before and afters!)  So far we've refinished 2 tables, recovered a chair, painted a chest, painted a lamp, and today we're going to paint a dresser.   We're trying to get as many of these projects done before we leave (though it seems crazy), because I know that once we get to Bellingham they just won't happen.  

We also went to the city museum- I CANNOT believe we haven't been there yet- what an AMAZING place.  I will post some pictures from this place that don't nearly capture the awesomeness of this museum.  If I had known how great this place was we would have bought memberships.  We've also had meals with friends, visitors and various outings.  

Finally, my body is adjusting to the 2 people in me.  I can't believe how much I am growing already, seriously!  I'm reading this book about twins and it talks about the importance of nutrition with twins, that often twins come early because they aren't getting enough in the womb.  Calcium alone, I'm supposed to have 8 glasses of milk, 1 serving of cheese, 1 serving of cottage cheese, and 1 milkshake.  I'm also supposed to have 2 servings of red meat and drink like 12 glasses of water.  I won't list all the other food I'm supposed to eat in my 6 meals.  Eating seems like a full time job, and I never thought I'd say this, but I'm getting tired of eating all the time.  I think I'm going to gain a bagillion pounds.  My body is doing ok and my energy level is decent.  My biggest complaint is at the end of the day when my back is just done.  So, I follow doctors order and have a milkshake on the couch.  Oh yes, this book also recommends that I take something like 5 hours of rest and naps a day- I don't think I'll be able to follow this tid bit of advice unfortunately. boys, girls, 1 of each?

Well, in fact, we know the answer, or at least we think.  I went to the doc today and was hoping to find out the sexes, but really didn't think it would happen.  This thought was confirmed when I asked the ultra-sound tech and she said things like, "do you think I'm a miracle worker?",  and "these babies are only 2 ounces!".  My hopes of finding out were crushed.  Nate was about to leave when a nurse came in and said, "how are the twins?"  The tech said, "they look great, and I think I know what one of them is."  My jaw dropped.  She looked like she was considering not telling us when finally she said, well, I'm pretty sure baby "B" is a boy!  I was thrilled.  And then she kept looking at baby "A" and said she is pretty sure it is a girl.  1 of each. yay.  I really hope she is right.  A little girlfriend  for Ada and another boy for Will (and Nate honestly, and me too, I must confess).    I'll feel all the more convinced in a month when this is confirmed, but the tech did actually seem quite confident and Nate and I both saw something hanging between the legs.  Now, on to names and nursery colors... (you can pray for Nate and I to agree on a boy name- we have, humhum, different tastes).

why not?  Here's a pic of Ada- now 6 1/2 months old.  Oh, I might mention too, tomorrow I go to the doc for an ultra-sound.  I really want to find out the sexes, it is possible this early, but very unlikely ... but possible.

Reduce, REUSE... (project 1)

I got this dress for 10 bucks a couple years ago and have worn it once, maybe twice because it fit kind of funny (have not gotten my money worth in my opinion).  However, I have not been able to give it away because I love the fabric.  Well, it occurred to me that the colors in the fabric would go great with Lucy's new room (turquoise, green, and pink).  So, in my attempt to use this fabric I have made a little wall decoration.

(I think it will look great with the chandelier that I'll finally get to use)

This is how these were used before in Lu and Will's room.  Such a great, el cheapo way to fill a wall (in my opinion anyways).

Ice cream truck

Lucy and Will get so excited every time the ice cream truck comes down the street despite the fact that they actually have never enjoyed anything from this magical truck.  They stare at the truck as it comes down the road, and then watch it leave.  I'm surprised, I actually haven't been pestered by them to get them ice cream- I don't even know if they knew it was an option.  Well, Lucy and Will had a little lemonade stand and made a few bucks.  I told them they could use the money to buy something from the ice cream man and they were thrilled.  Will got a batman popsicle with bubblegum eyes (that he just swallowed) and Lucy had a bubblegum flavor popsicle- both thoroughly enjoyed.  Now that they know it's an option I hope the pestering will not begin.

This is Lucy when no one is looking, and when everyone is looking. She loves to put on a show for whoever is available, and if no one is available, she'll just put it on for herself.

Florida continued and concluded

Granny and Maz by the pool.  On one of the sunny days we had the best time going back and forth from the pool and ocean and enjoying a great meal with all the fam by the pool.  Thanks Granny!

Cousin Luke was at Disney World before we he met up with us and surprised Will with some fun cars and such.  These two got along so well and it was great to see them together.

Because the weather was so horrendous, we had to search for things to do inside.  One day we drove to a kids museum that had little miniature town.  It had a mini bank, post-office, diner, fire engine, supermarket and some indoor toys.  The kids loved it.  We had the best pizza after, um, it was so good.  

Nate and I got to go on a date one night to celebrate graduation- it was amazing.  I looked into a bunch of different restaurants and settled on a little French one and boy was it the right choice.  The food was amazing.  Thanks mom and dad for treating us to such an amazing meal.  We love you!

Ada and Granny had a special bond.

Though it was dumping, we had to go to ice cream- I mean what's a trip to Florida without ice cream?  Thanks for the good times everyone, especially to Maz, Papa, and Granny who made the trip possible.  We love you!
